July Update

Final hardware. 512 GB internal memory. Pen and keyboard. It's summer. No reason to take a break, but still the best time of year. We are pleased to be able to report on progress in the development of the tablet. The Volla Tablet made its first public appearance at the Volla Community Days, where we were able to show both a beta version of Volla OS and Ubuntu Touch.
12.6 inch Quad HD display in video format
In order to ensure long-term production of the Volla tablet, we had to replace the originally planned display. We temporarily tested an FHD display with a classic 4-to-3 aspect ratio, but were then able to return to a QHD display with a modern 16-to-9 aspect ratio. This allows us to combine a high resolution and slim shape, which makes the tablet appear slim and light despite its generous 12.6 inches.Upgrade to 0.5 TB internal storage
Due to the two versions up to the final hardware, the delivery of the tablet will probably be delayed by 1 to 2 months. To compensate for this, we have decided to increase the internal memory from 256 GB to half a terabyte. Together with 12 GB of RAM and the powerful MTK Helio G99 processor, this makes the tablet an athlete to rival many a laptop.Good news for gamers: Volla OS includes the open-source Gamespace to get the maximum performance out of the mobile device for computer games.
Progress for pen and keyboard
In the meantime, we have been able to successfully test the prototype of the Volla pen. It is easy to use and writing on the display is surprisingly smooth. For the keyboard, we are planning a clear, slim design with a parallel top and bottom. It is integrated into a case into which the tablet can simply be inserted and connected to the keyboard. The side of the display can be set up quickly and easily. The backlit keyboard has a large trackpad and a USB port on the side for a mouse, memory stick or other accessories. We hope to be able to present renderings soon. The next step will be the production of the injection molds.
Production soon, delivery in the fall
After final quality assurance, series production of the Volla tablet can begin soon so that we can carry out the final production steps at our site in Remscheid in October and start delivery in November with a delay of 1 to 2 months. At the same time, we have started working with a local supplier to develop packaging that is appropriate for the Pro tablet.Software development is also progressing. Updated firmware with new device drivers, which became necessary due to the replacement of the display, is expected soon.
We can hardly wait to hold the final Volla tablet with Volla OS and Ubuntu Touch in our hands and get it on its way to users. Anyone who has not yet decided on a Volla tablet can support our crowd funding on Indiegogo and choose a Volla tablet as a reward at a preferential price.
